Video: Introducing The Litepanels MicroPro Hybrid Flash and Continuous LED Light

The Litepanels Micro Pro Hybrid is one of the best tools for both stills and video. It is a great way to add a little eye light or kill a shadow. They can be placed almost anywhere and generate almost no heat whatsoever. Litepanels was one of the first companies to make cinema ready LED lights and have crossed over to flash photography with the new Micro Pro Hybrid.

The new Hybrid is a Daylight (5600K) balanced LED light. It can be used with a flash sync cable to produce a 400% brighter burst then the standard output of the light.  The continuous dimmable light works great for video and will give you about a six-foot throw. The output is substantial for such a compact light. It’s always better to bring a light down in intensity than have to beg for more power. We typically use a bit of diffusion with ours.

The Litepanels MicroPro Hybrid runs on six “AA” style batteries or an A/C adapter.  Litepanels estimates a five to six hour run time using Energizer e2 lithium batteries.

The kit comes with a Full CTO gel,  a ¼ warming filter and a diffusion filter.  The  key to the Litepanels brand is the correct color temperature from the start with no chance of flicker or color distortion. The street price for the Hybrid will be around $500 US, which is a little pricey compared to aftermarket LED’s. However, we have beaten the heck out of ours and they somehow keep on working so Litepanels gets a full endorsement.

Thanks for the video on the Litepanels MicroPro Hybrid Flash. I had no idea that this type of LED even existed. Just a question or two is how does the camera trigger the flash? Can it be used with a PocketWizard?

Sorry of these are stupid questions. I am new to the game.

    Cheers

It works with a flash sync cable. It should work with a pocket wizard. Check the site to be sure. http://www.litepanels.com thanks for the comment.
