In honor of their upcoming special, The USO Presents VH1 Divas Salute The Troops, Vh1 is running a unique digital campaign combining photography, individuality, and charity. The network is attempting to create a photo mosaic 10,000 images strong to salute our troops; inviting people to submit their Facebook pictures or other images to the cause. For every photo shared VH1 will donate $1 to the USO’s Operation Enduring Care.
If you want to be a part of this honorable project click “Share Your Photo” in the upper left hand of the official site. It will prompt you to login to Facebook, if you’re not logged in already. Your Facebook profile picture will come up by default, but the real photographers out there will want to replace it with any photo from your hard drive (which is also an option). You can then type a personal message of thanks, check off the user agreement boxes, and hit submit! Now your image has joined the ranks and $1 is on its way to the USO courtesy of Vh1. A link to your photo within the mosaic can then be seen on your Facebook wall.
Thus far 247 photos have been submitted to the mosaic, including shots of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Nancy Sinatra, and Carrie Underwood. The Divas Salute the Troops special airs Sunday December 5th at 9 pm/8 pm central on Vh1 and will feature performances from Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Paramore, Sugarland, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
